Seventh Day Designs \

Animalistic Urges

I saw a coyote today

His fur was brown like autumn shadows

He was on the other side of the creek

Watching me as I cried,

Realizing I could never be the person I desired

He watched me throw a bracelet in the river,

Stared as I wept,

Creeped closer as I tore at my skull.

I noticed him staring at me,

With curiosity and wonder.

I could no longer smile,

Unable to cherish him.

I waited for it to hop over the bracelet

And tear into my throat

I wish it had.

Instead our gazes remained fixed,

Until we both walked away.

We both left with a piece of each other in our throats.

About The Artist

Heath, a local artist in the Quad Cities, loves the honesty and fragility in the arts. Using his unique art style and visceral writing style, he creates pieces that challenge the fragility of the human condition, exposing the darkness that lies beneath the masks.
